Ophion's debut album on the Dutch notoriously crafty Diametric label is surprisingly mature and well constructed piece of ambient that at times does flirt with the darker side of the spectrum. Apart from the last 2 tracks, the rest relies on the premise of creating an audible open space through expansion of field recordings via delicately woven sonic extures, and this premise is delivered upon with stunning beauty. "Millenia", on the other hand is defenitely a different animal, as Rai Scott recites verses from Byron's "Darkness" poem over brooding and dark ambience, all to a chilling and sorrowfull effect. In the last track, Bvdub, as he candidly states, tests the depths of your heart with an utterly epic and absorbing journey through human emotions, a true tour de force.A thoroughly appealing and intelligent release, highly recommended.
