Album

When Stan Freberg released The United States of America in 1961, it was one of the first comedy concept albums. and perhaps the funniest musical comedy never performed onstage. With a cast that included Jesse White and June Foray as well as a dead-on Orson Welles impression by voice-over master Paul Frees, Freberg presented a madcap version of history that began with Christopher Columbus's insistence that It's a Round, Round World. Finally, in 1996, Freberg went into the studio with the surviving members of his original cast-as well as stars David Ogden Stiers, Sherman Hemsley, Tyne Daly, Lorenzo Music, and John Goodman-with a new batch of songs and. They are joined by Freberg's children Donovan Freberg and Donna Freberg Ebsen, as well as Tyne Daly, John Goodman, Sherman Helmsley, Lorenzo Music, Harry Shearer, David Ogden Stiers, and last but certainly not least, Freberg's longtime musical director, the illustrious Billy May. Stan Freberg Presents the United States of America Volume One: The Early Years is a 1961 American comedy album with music and dialogue written by Stan Freberg, released as Capitol WSW-1573 in 1961. Freberg satirizes episodes of the history of the United States from 1492 until the end of the Revolutionary War in 1783. The album combined dialogue and song in a musical theater format. Billy May orchestrated and conducted the music, with the Jud Conlon Singers providing background vocals. 트랙 목록. 1: The Early Years. Columbus Discovers America - It's A Round, Round World. Stan Freberg does throw out some basic schtick to meet the humor of the masses but to enjoy the wonderful comedy of this album requires more than just a passing familiarity with US history, not just during the ColonialRevolutionary days, but what was happening in Washington DC in the 20th Century through the 60's when the album was recorded. It has been a great teaching tool for me to use with my kids as I explain the jokes. My boys enjoy it so much they wanted copies of their own which is what this purchase was.
