Get GOOD TIMES, out May 27th. Welcome to the official YouTube channel of The Monkees, home of 60s chart-topping hits Last Train To Clarksville, Im A Believer and Daydream Believer, as well as multi-platinum, 1 albums The Monkees, More of the Monkees, Headquarters Times is the twelfth studio album by American pop rock band the Monkees. Produced mainly by Adam Schlesinger with some additional bonus tracks produced by Andrew Sandoval, the album was recorded to commemorate the band's 50th anniversary. It is the first Monkees studio album since Justus 1996, marking the longest gap between Monkees albums to date, and the first since the death of founding member Davy Jones. The album features surviving Monkees Micky Dolenz, Michael Nesmith, and Peter Tork. Good Times is certainly the best Monkees LP since their '60s heyday, but it also stands firmly on its own as one hell of an album circa 2016. To be honest, you'd be hard-pressed to find another act from the same era who has made an album this good in recent memory, and that includes any of the heavyweights still alive and kicking out there. The highly anticipated new album GOOD TIMES by The Monkees is the band's first new album in 20 years and tied to their 50th anniversary and extensive North American Tour. GOOD TIMES finds all three surviving band members Micky Dolenz, Michael Nesmith, and Peter Tork taking turns on lead vocals, playing a wide range of instruments, and sharing new compositions. The Monkees were very good at tunes. Their melodies and catchy hooks and harmonies were some of the best in the business. Of course a lot of their stuff was written by top class outside songwriters. Good Times will mark the first time Dolenz and Nilsson have sung together since Dolenz' May 1973 single Daybreak. GOOD TIMES also includes the Neil Diamond-penned Love To Love, the Carole King and Gerry Goffin collaboration I Wasn't Born To Follow, Whatever's Right, written by legendary songwriting duo Tommy Boyce and Bobby Hart, who were responsible for many of the classic Monkees hits, and Gotta Give It Time, by Jeff Barry and Joey Levine. In addition to the new album, Dolenz and Tork will launch a Monkee. Good Times, You Bring The Summer and more. 13 tracks 36:07. Good Times is the twelfth studio album by the Monkees. How in the hell....the hype was actually true. Except for the fairly explicable absence of many Davy tracks, this is a great Monkees album. My tastes with them are kinda quirky. I really love Instant Replay for some reason. But I recognize that the classics are Headquarters, Pisces etc and the Head soundtrack. Yes, I think this can stand with those albums and I think that's miraculous. Pool It was possibly the worst album I've ever heard in my life, and Justus a disappointing bore. This is the reunion album I truly wanted. Some highlights are hearing the voice of Micky Dolenz singing the lyrics of Andy Partridge of XTC. Just like me, it was the Monkees who got him into music, and it's a match made in heaven. Peter Tork leaves all the naysayers in the dust with a sublime 'Wasn't Born To Follow' (not the Godflesh, the Byrds song) that proves he can sing with the best of them. Original Mike Nesmith songs are always interesting and welcome, and he harmonizes with Micky on several songs. Their voices meshed so beautifully that it dumbfounds me they didn't do more of it in the 60s. They're up there with the Everly Brothers. This isn't a perfect Monkees album. Tell me one that is. But it's a superb finale, and a great gift from the band to the fans who they meant so much to?
