It may have taken the Notorious . a few years to follow up his milestone debut, Ready to Die 1994, with another album, but when he did return with Life After Death in 1997, he did so in a huge way. The ambitious album, intended as somewhat of a sequel to Ready to Die, picking up where its predecessor left off, sprawled across the span of two discs, each filled with music, 24 songs in all. You'd expect any album this sprawling to include some lackluster filler. That's not really the case with Life After Death, however. Life After Death documents the extraordinary and ultimately tragic final chapter in the life of an ascending star. Recorded over 18 months between Los Angeles, New York, and Maraval, Trinidad, the sessions were interrupted by . s arrest for marijuana and gun possession, and a car accident that shattered his left leg, forcing him to stay seated for the majority of the album. With the shake-up behind the murders, beefs, and tensions between coasts, this album was a painful reminder of how talent that is snuffed out too soon, and over too little, was and is one of the number-one problems in the industry. An altogether slicker, poppier, but also somewhat darker affair than its predecessor, Life After Death is also in many ways the better album in that it has more classic songs. The deliberately catchy singles 'Hypnotise' and 'Mo' Money, Mo' Problems' benefit from the pop touch Puffy brings to the table, while the stoner haze of the excellent 'The World Is Filled' is probably the album highlight, its effortless groove underpinning Puffy's best moment on the album, or probably anywhere else. Not long afterward, The Notorious . rose again: The double album Life After Death was released March 25. It sold 700,000 hard copies almost immediately, jumping from No. 176 to No. 1 on the Billboard 200 in the space of a week. The albums cover art featured the man formerly known as Biggie Smalls in a long black coat and black bowler. He stared us in the face while leaning against a hearse that bore the license plate . There were no sunglasses to hide his lazy eye. He wore it full and proud, looking over his shoulder as if he already knew. He wasnt smiling

My side D is mislabeled as Side F but music corrrect. Anyone else have this issue?

I spin this weekly at my vinyl shows. Been sealed since Nov 2016 - opened and play all the time at my shows 2/3 times a week. Never have a problem and sounds great on my 1200s / pioneer djm 300-s mixer qsc subs and mids :)

A rather loud record with some noticeable surface noise, & sibilance on quieter passages. No issues with skipping. Very dynamic for a hip-hop album, tight bass & crisp highs with sound the filled my listening room. Packaging was shit though.

I have no skipping issues with this release. It's been top notch for me on all accounts. Using a Pioneer turntable with Shure M97xE.

Side A and B both have major skipping issues all the way through. Not impressed with the quality of this release.

I'm noticing the skipping as well. Hope it's just side A and B.

I heard that side A has some major skipping. I listened to my copy, and it happens on Kick in the Door. I'm guessing this may be a universal problem with all copies. Has anyone else noticed this issue? Surprised I haven't seen more comments.

Actually, my friend and I both experienced this when we picked up copies on RSD. I even got my copy exchanged and same issue. Adjusting the antiskating and the tone arm helped.
