Does the original vinyl release come with an embossed cover as well as a non embossed cover?I have a copy and the barcode and etchings match an original issue but the cover isn't embossed.

Despite being mocked by the music snobs for being such a fun album and not taking itself seriously, this is one of the massive land mark albums of 90s UK dance music, bringing breakbeat and hardcore to the mainstream more than any other group apart from maybe Altern 8 and Ragga Twins. It still sounds good over 25 years later.

I agree that 'Experience' and its expanded version is the best of breakbeat/hardcore can offer of its time. Yeah i forgot Metalheads (Rob/Goldie)/ Rufige Kru. and of course the Tom & Jerry project of Marc & Dego. Did you mean Mark Ryder? Yeah that guy was pretty involved with alot of projects for the rave scene :)

Strange you mentioned this ep I remember Liam saying that this ep was a big influence on him and named it as one of the few hardcore records he rated.

https://www.discogs.com/NRG-The-Hardcore-EP/master/12416 is the one I would head straight for as was great then and still is ;) Fingers crossed you are able to buy it on another format other than vinyl in the future. Peace ;)

its a shame i know N.R.G. from that 'Deepa Remix', but i don't blame myself since i was too young (29) to know all those contributors. i have an special place for early rave music even i happen to did't 'experience' it with festivals and 'illigal house parties'. I wish N.R.G. has purchasable digital music, i will buy on site. Thanks for mentionin' N.R.G., all of them who transformed the scene deserves an hall of fame for the 80/90's rave scene. Rip for those who aren't among us.

N.R.G. Should never ever be forgotten for his contribution to the hardcore scene. Superb production that was just as good as Prodigy's first e.p. if not better!
Windbearer Windbearer
Yep Mark Ryder did a hell of a lot for the scene plus he producing a lot of cracking tunes, another crew that were a little bit of a step above the rest were the often forgotten Citadel Of Chaos.

Really was leagues above 99% of the "hardcore" out at the time, the energy that Liam was able to inject into his productions was pretty incredible.Early Prodigy like Pendulum was embraced by the "underground" for their songmanship, sound quality and progressive take on their respected scenes but the "serious heads" very quickly distanced themselves from them claiming they hijacked their precious scenes and took it to the masses and Prodigy music overnight magically turned into pop, jealousy is a curse.Problem was that 92 was moving so fast and to make an album of 12 tracks took a lot of time and 6 month old tracks were nearly out of date.By the time this was finally released Liam was well past this sound both creatively & in regards to production quality.

For me the 1% would have been Marc & Dego, Goldie & Rob, Acen, HOE, maybe Nookie maybe Ryder and maybe a few others including er....um Altern-8 but not many. Not saying I didnt love most of the 99% but arrangement, choice of samples (bar Charly) & production wise Liam was on a different level.
BORZOTA BORZOTA
I wonder who the remaining 1% are ;)Some acts which comes in my mind are: Foul Play, HOE, Krome & Time, Acen, 4 Hero[Manix] and early Origin Unknown/Andy C. I think i missed alot, because there were alot of producers back then who sampled 'rave' music.

For me its all about - Hyperspeed (G-Force) awesome tune, sampling a tune of one of the hip hop electro series albums from the 80's.
Tuliancel Tuliancel
Exactly! What a whopper track! ☺♥ Pure class, deep and intelligent.
Inerrace Inerrace
samples - Captain Rock - The Return of Capt. Rock, even the hip hop electro's were amazing back in the day, ive got all the albums on 12" . this was way before hardcore was invented, but the hyperspeed for me the best rave tune prodigy ever made, after that has to be charlie.
Renthadral Renthadral
Damn right, Bro. In fact, Hyperspeed (G - Force Part 2), is my favourite track in the Experience album, if not my favourite The Prodigy song...
FailCrew FailCrew
The best and most creative album! Liam did insane producing with this (and Jilted).
Arabella V. Arabella V.
It's funny that albums such as this and Altern 8 - Full On Mask Hysteria which were at the time mocked and considered somewhat of a joke to my ears have aged the best. One of the best dance albums ever imo.
Otrytrerl Otrytrerl
Got this in 1994 when I was 13 years old and still play it today.....
catterpillar catterpillar
One of the key records that got me into electronic dance music. I used to annoy the shit out of my non-raver friends with this one for a year or more. Still such a killer album.
Eta Eta
there's quite a difference between comparing records and just enjoying them. people that say it's cheesy probably compare too much. i listen to lots of complex electro, but still can enjoy this record as-it-is. my favorite prodigy album, fun, sunny and ravey as hell
Frdi Frdi
Absolutely ! I still listen to and enjoy it now, and it still sounds great. Happy rave memories.
Uyehuguita Uyehuguita
This album is so much fun, I don't care if it's cheesy, but every track is a fun! even after 20 years this album still delivers!
Zut Zut
Although this album has it's place in dance music history (has been said to be a predecesor to happy hardcore *shudder*), it's mostly Meat Beat Manifesto's Radio Babylon and Helter Skelter (both excellent tracks) sped up to Chipmunks speed with goofy vocals and synth pads that often seem to be programed to imitate Woody Woodpecker's laugh. Cheesy music that was built from superior music imo.
Joni_Dep Joni_Dep
Fat of the land is far more overrated. Nobody is overrating Experience, most reviews say it's simple, fun, admittedly cheesy and reminds them of their youth. That's not overrated, that's just enjoyable.

cheesy? *facepalm*
Gralinda Gralinda
thank you very much. finally someone with common sense.
Teonyo Teonyo
Overrated and one-dimensional. every track has that cheesy early 90's hardcore bassline. not recommended. music for the jilted generation was an upgrade and fat of the land was their (or liam's) crowning achievement.
Adrietius Adrietius
Clearly, you didn't take enough pills. Should have tried harder!
Berenn Berenn
I think this is better. It's a bit of a mess but at least it has some energy. Fat of the Land sounds so lethargic.
Buzalas Buzalas
dude whats wrong with you? this is pure uplifting energy, still fresh after 20 years.

In its coherence an for all time absolutely outstanding album of Breakbeat + Jungle Core released in the early 90ies by the unique PRODIGY. Whole and complete just so much about dancing, raving & breakz like there is no comparison. Alec Empire sort of tried it but is too political ... But "Experience" goes beyond, tracks merge into each other, fit right in there ... This is ulitmate, ok: imagine yourself on E to this ... In the year 2007 still so fresh, and I will listen to this in 2057 and there won't be any loss of genius ... Just one other guy from the UK who is so unique: Ed Rush ... But then that surely is a different issue. THX to THE PRODIGY !!!

Every track on Experience is an absolute killer. I remember driving around with some friends with this on the car stereo and not even wanting to skip to the next tune - for the whole album, even with the slow burner Weather Experience (fine acid). The best track IMHO is Everybody is in The Place - it is just a pure unadulterated rave track - which has got to be exactly what Liam Howlett was trying to do with the entire album. Timeless quality.
Kison Kison
For fans of "The Weather Experience" I would reccomend "Dope On Plastic" by Uptown, the Hiphop track from which the break was lifted wholesale. Credit for extracting that small fragment of drum greatness goes to Dante "The Scrub" Ross and the great Chris Moore.
DART-SKRIMER DART-SKRIMER
Prodigy's ultimate mark on the UK rave industry was felt with this release. Pumping breakbeat's & synth riffs make this an unparallel breakthrough for music production. Its hard to compare this album with any other as it carry's such a unique blend of talent & precision accuracy to label it as pure rave in genre would'nt do it full justice, you have to hear it for yourself...
