People will correct me if my memory fails me but - as I recall it - the cover art of "Loaded" as we know it, the smoke billowing out of the subway exit - is not the original cover art. I distinctly remember visiting a record store back in the 80's and the cover at that time was a black and white photo, of a building - with a very tiny plaque saying "Art Gallery". I believe people actually referred to the album under that name for a while too.

"Art Gallery" refers back to the albums original cover photo, which had a black and white picture of a building, possibly with the band, possibly without, I can't remember - but there was a tiny plaque saying Art Gallery on the building. If I remember right people used to mistakenly call the album by that name for a while. Nowhere on the net can I find a copy of the original cover but someone must have one. Guess those albums are pretty rare now.

Most of this pressing sounds ok. I'd give it a 7/10, but New Age (1-5) suffers from some really extreme sibilance and what almost sounds like clipping distortion in several places. Also, Oh! Sweet Nuthin' (2-5) is kinda noisy as well, which makes me sad seeing as it's probably my favorite VU track. I paid $20 for this record, and it does look great on the table, so I'll likely keep it, but if I find a better pressing in the future I will grab a copy.

Doesn't sound bad, but doesn't sound great. I personally think the 2012 reissue by rhino sounds a little better. The clarity and depth of sound on that release seem to be of better quality. I wonder if they used different masters, haven't compared matrix info yet but I do notice different Cotillion labels used on these different reissues. The 2012 has the blue cotillion label, while this release has the pink cotillion label on the wax. Also there seems to be more sibilance on this gold record. I own several gold records and they all seem to have bad sibilance. I'm not saying that this reissue specifically suffers because of the color of vinyl, but in my experience there always seems to be little issues here and there with gold vinyl such as sibilance, surface noise and distortion. All in all I would give this release a 6/10. Sounds decent but there are subtle issues that take away from a 100% enjoyable listening experience. This is more of a collectors item than an auditory experience. There are definitely better vinyl versions of this album out there.

I totally agree with you! The sibilance on this one is very noticeable. I kinda like that the vocals seem to be more up front in the mix compared to the Spotify version I used to listen to before getting the record.
