The book describes the protracted war between the domineering King Gorice of Witchland and the Lords of Demonland in an imaginary world that appears mainly medieval and partly reminiscent of Norse sagas. The work is slightly related to Eddison's later Zimiamvian Trilogy, and collectively they are sometimes referred to as the Zimiamvian series. Worm Ouroboros is a strange entity fusing gothic, doom, post rock and jazz into modern chamber music for the depressed masses. Come the Thaw is their sophomore release and, like their debut, offers a series of lengthy movements graced with the ethereal voices of Lorraine Rath and Jessica Way. This time out, theyre aided by the drumming of Aesop Dekker Agalloch, Ludicra. I would venture to say this is a form of doom, but only as far as the feel of the album, not due to the presence of big, tooth-loosening riffs.
